How do I apply for a Haul Truck Traineeship?

Visit www.carmichaeljobs.com.au click on the “Haul Truck Traineeships” job listing, then “Apply”. You will need to upload a copy of your resume and be registered to the jobs portal to apply.

Do I need experience in mining to get the job?

No. You will not be required to have any mining experience to be selected. We are looking for positive, hardworking, and practical workers who are ready to kick-start their careers at the Carmichael Coal Mine.

How many jobs are available?

There are 60 traineeship spots available.

When do the Haul Truck Traineeship jobs start?

These jobs will kick off in the new year and the start date will be during the months of January, February and March. The first month of the role is focused on training in Townsville before you hit the mine site and receive further onsite training.

What if I have questions?

We anticipate that we will receive a high volume of applications and so sadly can't field calls to have a chat. However, this FAQ has been designed to give you basic answers. If you are shortlisted, we will be in contact with you, and you can ask us as many questions as you like!

Are the Traineeship jobs fulltime?

Yes. These roles are full time and ongoing. The current roster at site is 7 days on, 7 days off.

Who will I be employed by?

The recruitment drive is a joint initiative of Bravus Mining and Resources and MacKellar Mining. The employer is Mackellar Mining who is our approved operator at the Carmichael Mine.

What is the salary for the traineeship?

Should you be shortlisted, then we will discuss salary with you. We are of course aware of market conditions and our package is competitive.

Do I need to live in Townsville or Rockhampton to be successful in my application?

We remain committed to Townsville and Rockhampton as the primary hubs of employment for the Carmichael Project, however everyone is welcome to apply and we will consider applicants from all regional Queensland communities.

Will you accept a late application?

Make sure you apply by the due date set out in the advertisement as we won’t be accepting late applications.

Is there a test as part of the application process?

Shortlisted candidates will undertake an online psychometric assessment. The assessment is a broad test. There is no pass or fail – just answer honestly. Then there will be some group recruitment activities that include some team activities and a panel interview. These activities will be occurring on fixed days and to continue with your application you will need to be available. If you are shortlisted, we will let you know these dates.

Do I need to complete a medical as part of my application?

Yes. If you are shortlisted, Bravus will arrange a coal board medical examination for you at our expense. The medical is to ensure you are fit to work on site. The medicals will be occurring in Townsville and Rockhampton on fixed days and to continue with your application you will need to be available. If you are shortlisted, we will let you know of these dates.

Where is the Carmichael Mine site?

The Carmichael Mine site is located approximately 300 kilometers west of the coast in central Queensland.
